Bluejohn Canyon

Last year in October Bette took me canyoneering in Bluejohn Canyon. (The famous one that Aron Ralston cut his arm off in) It was SOOOO much fun, I can't believe I didn't get into canyoneering before!
The Canyon was so beautiful inside! It was like another world where we got to be kids in a giant playground. The first day we went with Bette's friend Jane.

We did a few short repels. Not too bad!
Honestly, the hardest part was hiking there with all our gear on! And I'm pretty sure I had the smallest pack! 
I'm not sure how we got there but Bette and Jane were experts in following the Beta. Those two were amazing! I wish I had more time to learn it all from Bette! :(

The next day Bette's friend Debbie joined us also. You can see her peering through the slots!
One repel ended up in some water! And at one point we found a disgusting soggy bat. Poor guy!

On occasion we had to walk on walls to get around obstacles.
Getting ready for the big upclimb! Usually people climb DOWN this part but we were up for some more adventure!
Jane went first, then Debbie, then me, and then Bette. I can't believe Jane was able to chimney up that whole wall! I started to poop out pretty quickly so Bette came up underneath me and let me use her as a foot hold!

Yes, we came UP all that with our backs to the wall and using our feet to push us up.
I just about passed out when I reached the top, but after scarfing down Swedish fish I was able to journey on!

I had a blast hanging out with these girls! I was so grateful they let me, a newbe come along on their adventure. They were so buff! They were also very patient with me, which I appreciated!

Mom and Dad came to visit!

One weekend in February Mom and Dad came to visit and we all had so much fun! I had a great time having them as guests at my house! I wish we could have everyone over for dinner more often! We drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon and ate lunch at the Snowbird lodge. It was great showing them what 'real' snow looks like! We also ate a great Thia restaurant and visited a dutch store! We had to make dad drive really fast to get there before it closed! (Luckily he didn't get a ticket!) We walked away with lots of treats!  We also were able to go to a waffle dessert place in Salt Lake City that Sarah's been raving about. It was soooo good but almost put me in a diabetic coma. We ended our weekend by having an excellent dinner at Matt and Sarah's house. Then Mom and Dad had to drive back home. We were all sad when they left but so grateful they were able to come see us in our turf!

Rock Climbing for Birthday

This year we celebrated both Kyle and my birthdays on the same day! Mike did the honors of wrapping the presents! Very creative I thought!

We had so much fun doing indoor rock climbing. Can't you tell that Cory is excited!

We also were able to hang out with Matt and Sarah too! (sorry no pictures!) We went to the Cowboy Grub restaurant because I had a hankering for scones! The scones did not disappoint but our dinners were 'interesting.' It was still so much fun to hang out with everyone! Thanks for a great birthday!

Winter Hiking in Millcreak Canyon

Bette, Cory and I went hiking in Millcreak Canyon, hoping to use our spiked yak tracks! There was hardly any snow though!

Temple Square

Bette, Mike, Cory and I went to Temple Square in Salt Lake City before then took the lights down. We had fun seeing all the brilliant lights and nativities from around the world.




We will miss going to the Salt Lake Temple! It's so beautiful!
